Music producer and former manager to gospel artist Mercy Chinwo, Ezekiel Onyedikachi—popularly known as EeZeeTee—has been granted bail in the sum of ₦20 million by Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court in Lagos. This follows his arraignment on allegations of illegal foreign exchange transactions.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) refiled a seven-count amended charge against EeZeeTee, a reduction from an earlier 14-count indictment. According to the EFCC, EeZeeTee allegedly engaged in an unauthorized foreign exchange transaction worth $52,895 in June 2023 with one Oladotun Olaobaju Mureke. The agency claims the deal was conducted without approval from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), in violation of Sections 5 and 29 of the Foreign Exchange (Monitoring and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act.
EeZeeTee pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The court granted him bail under strict conditions, including the provision of a surety residing in Lagos who must own property of equal value to the bail amount. He has 72 hours to meet the terms. The trial is scheduled to continue on June 20, 2025.
