“Dating in Lagos Is Chaotic” – Mr Macaroni Gets Real About Love, Heartbreak, and Why He’s Staying Single

Popular Nigerian comedian and actor Debo Adedayo, better known as Mr Macaroni, is opening up about his love life—or rather, the lack of it. In a candid chat with media personality Ariyike Dimples on her show Dating in Lagos, the skit maker didn’t hold back in describing the city’s dating scene as “chaotic” and likening it to “anarchy.”

According to him, he’s chosen to stay out of the whole thing entirely.

“I’m a single pringle. I’m single and not searching,” he said with a laugh. “If you say dating in Lagos, for me, I can’t really define it. But based on what I’ve seen and heard, it’s chaotic—or better put, anarchy.”

Mr Macaroni revealed that his last serious relationship was back in university—and not in Lagos. He admitted he’s been in love before, but life had other plans.

“There’s someone I really loved, and I still love her, but there are a lot of circumstances that won’t allow us to be together. A lot of different tests. I don’t want to go into it.”

Beyond the jokes and viral skits, the content creator showed a more vulnerable side as he shared his deeper thoughts on what love truly means. He also pushed back against the overly romanticised portrayals of relationships often seen on social media.

“A lot of people think love is all about the fun stuff—shopping, spending money, taking cute pictures. But I strongly believe love requires perseverance. That’s not to say you should suffer in a relationship, but love isn’t always rosy. When you say you love someone, it means you’re ready to commit 100%, even during the tough times.”

Known for his comedic roles that shine a light on societal issues, Mr Macaroni reminded fans that behind the laughs is a thoughtful, introspective man shaped by real-life experiences.

For now, he’s choosing peace of mind over romantic chaos—and he’s perfectly fine with that.
