Veteran Nollywood actor Femi Branch found himself at the centre of controversy after reportedly assaulting an assistant movie director during a film shoot — a confrontation that quickly spiralled into a full-blown standoff at the movie location.
In a video that has now gone viral on social media, the acclaimed actor is seen being prevented from exiting the film set by security personnel and crew members, following an alleged altercation that disrupted the production.
A voice, believed to be that of a crew member, can be heard saying: “You can’t leave here until you go back to finish the remaining shooting.”
Femi Branch, visibly angered by the situation, turned to the director and fired back:
“Did I have business with you? Are you the one who called me on this set? Did you bring me here to insult me, or what is the meaning of this?”
The director, attempting to de-escalate the tension, calmly responded,
“Hello sir, can we just start the filming?”
Unmoved, Branch replied harshly:
“Please don’t talk to me. You don’t have control of your set.”
The director then confronted the actor over the alleged assault, saying:
“You insulted someone on my set. Did I not even tell you it was enough during the altercation? You slapped somebody — was I not the one you slapped? Oga, no problem. You have done your own.”
The video also captured the moment the actor confronted the estate’s security team for allegedly blocking his vehicle at the exit gate. He threatened to escalate the matter, declaring:
“You people are blocking me from driving out, right? I swear to God, I will report you to the management for locking me inside your estate. You must explain your business with our location.”
As the video continues to make rounds online, fans and industry observers are expressing mixed reactions, with some calling for a thorough investigation into the alleged assault and others urging professionalism and respect on production sets.
At the time of this report, Femi Branch has yet to release an official statement addressing the incident.
