Controversial street-hop singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has once again stirred up drama — this time clapping back at fellow artist Bella Shmurda, who recently distanced himself from any musical collaboration with the self-styled Zazuu Zeh crooner.
In an interview on the Curiosity Made Me Ask podcast with Isbae U, Bella Shmurda explained why he would not consider a collaboration with Portable, citing a lack of musical compatibility and a desire to avoid unnecessary drama.
“I just don’t see the connection in the music,” Bella stated. “I don’t want wahala, I want peace.”
But the comment didn’t sit well with Portable, who is known as much for his viral music as for his unfiltered outbursts. In a fiery video shared on his Instagram page, Portable lashed out at Bella, calling him a failed musician and claiming he’s not on the same level.
“Anytime you wan do interview, don’t mention my name again,” Portable warned. “You can’t feature me? I don go to America, London. No be who first blow o, na who dey blow dey go.
“You are a failure. I no dey roll or do music with failures.”
The singer went on to boast about his international recognition, adding that his fame and street influence are unmatched in the current music scene.
Portable, since rising to fame in 2021 with his breakout hit Zazuu Zeh featuring Olamide and Poco Lee, has been a regular feature in the headlines, not just for his music but for his numerous controversies.
From clashing with show promoters and colleagues to run-ins with law enforcement, the singer has built a reputation for chaotic public behaviour. In April 2023, he was arrested and later released after failing to respond to police invitations regarding allegations of assault. More recently, he served a short sentence for abusing the naira by spraying currency in public, an act prohibited by Nigerian financial laws.
His public persona — raw, confrontational, and unapologetically brash — has made him a polarising figure in the entertainment industry, often drawing criticism from more mainstream acts and fans.
Despite the backlash, Portable continues to amass a loyal following, particularly among fans of street music, who see him as the unfiltered voice of the masses. His outburst at Bella Shmurda, while divisive, is yet another chapter in the ongoing saga of an artist who thrives in controversy and never backs down from a fight, verbal or otherwise.
