Police Launch Investigation Into Viral Video of Angela Okorie Jogging with Armed Escort

The Nigeria Police Force has launched an investigation into a now-viral video showing Nollywood actress Angela Okorie jogging while being closely trailed by armed police officers. This scene has triggered public outrage and raised questions about the misuse of state security resources.

The video, which surfaced online two weeks ago , captured the actress in activewear jogging along a quiet road, while uniformed officers carrying rifles followed behind, appearing to provide a personal security escort.

In an official statement released on Wednesday via its X (formerly Twitter)handle, Force Public Relations Officer Olumuyiwa Adejobi condemned the officers’ conduct, describing it as “inconsistent with the professional standards and decorum expected” of the Nigeria Police Force.

 “The Nigeria Police Force strongly frowns at the conduct of armed police officers seen in a viral video trailing actress Angela Okorie while she jogged — an act considered inconsistent with the professional standards and decorum expected of personnel of the Force,” the statement read.

Adejobi noted that while the footage may have been captured in or around a movie set, the optics have generated widespread public concern and criticism, prompting the Force to act swiftly.

He added that an internal administrative process has been initiated to identify the officers involved and assess the full context of the incident.

 “Necessary administrative processes have been initiated to identify the officers involved and determine the circumstances surrounding the video. Appropriate disciplinary action will be taken based on the outcome of the review,” Adejobi stated.

As of the time of filing this report, Angela Okorie has not made any public comment regarding the controversy or clarified whether the scene was part of a film production or a personal activity.
