Afrobeats sensation Stanley Omah Didia, popularly known as Omah Lay, has confidently declared himself the greatest artist of his generation.
The 28-year-old singer from Rivers State made the bold statement on Thursday night via a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, stating that while he might not have concrete proof at the moment, his future achievements will speak volumes.
“HI GUYS! MY NAME IS OMAH LAY AND I AM THE GREATEST OF MY GENERATION, I DON’T HAVE PROOFS RIGHT NOW BUT THERE WILL BE A LOT IN THE FUTURE. THANKS. YOURS TRULY, BOY ALONE,” he wrote.
Omah Lay began his professional music career in 2019 as a record producer and songwriter before making his breakthrough as a performing artist in early 2020 with the release of his debut EP, Get Layd. The five-track project, which included hits like Bad Influence, Lo Lo, and You, catapulted him into the limelight and became a fan favourite across Nigeria and beyond.
His unique sound — a blend of Afro-fusion, soul, and pop — quickly earned him critical acclaim and commercial success. Within just a few years, Omah Lay has become one of Nigeria’s most streamed new-generation artists, with a growing influence in the global music space.
His debut album Boy Alone, released in 2022, further cemented his position in the industry, featuring hit songs like soso, which enjoyed massive success both on streaming platforms and on the charts.
While his claim as the greatest may spark debate, Omah Lay is not afraid to back himself, and fans will be watching closely as his journey continues to unfold.
