Nigerian music sensation Ayra Starr has shared a heartfelt moment from her career that still feels like a dream: meeting her ultimate role model, global superstar Rihanna, popularly known as Robyn Rihanna Fenty.
In a recent interview with ETalk TV, the Rush hitmaker opened up about her admiration for the Barbadian icon, calling her “an amazing artist, an amazing woman, an amazing person in general.” According to Ayra, Rihanna has long been someone she looked up to and meeting her was a surreal experience.
“She’s such an amazing person. To be honest, it still feels like a dream. I love her so much,” Ayra gushed.
But what made the moment truly unforgettable was the mutual admiration between the two stars. Ayra revealed that Rihanna is actually a fan of her music a revelation that left the Mavin Records artist stunned and overjoyed.
“The fact that she loves my music… I’m my favourite artist’s favourite artist,” she said proudly, beaming with joy.
The moment was more than just starstruck excitement; it affirmed to Ayra Starr that her choice of role model was right. “I know I chose a great role model,” she added.
Despite her own rising global status, Ayra admitted that being around Rihanna still leaves her tongue-tied and nervous. “When I get nervous around her, I try to make unnecessary jokes,” she said, laughing at herself.
