Popular Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Yul Edochie, has called for the South-East region of Nigeria to be allowed to produce the country’s next president.
In a video shared via his Instagram page, Edochie emphasised the need for fairness, equity, and regional balance in Nigeria’s leadership. He urged Nigerians across the country to support the South-East’s bid for the presidency in the next general election.
The actor’s comments have sparked conversations, particularly because of his well-known support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Edochie has consistently asked Nigerians to remain patient with the current administration, expressing optimism that Tinubu’s economic reforms would soon yield positive results.
However, despite his loyalty to the current government, Edochie maintained that it was only just for the South-East to take the helm of leadership in the spirit of national unity and fairness.
He stated:
“The next President of Nigeria should come from the South-East in fairness and equity. That’s just the truth and that’s how it should be.”
