American rapper Cardi B has been hit with a lawsuit by a concertgoer who is accusing the artist of assault, battery, and negligence stemming from a 2023 performance in Las Vegas. According to *Naija News*, the incident took place at Drai’s Beachclub and quickly went viral after footage showed Cardi B throwing a microphone into the crowd.
The legal complaint, filed on Monday, July 21, by a woman identified as Jane Doe, alleges that the microphone struck her unexpectedly, resulting in physical injuries and emotional distress.
Jane Doe claims the incident occurred after someone in the crowd splashed water on Cardi B while she was performing her hit song *“Bodak Yellow.”* Although the rapper initially responded playfully, the plaintiff says Cardi’s mood quickly shifted, and she allegedly threw the microphone in anger, hitting her in the process.
The woman also highlighted the humiliation of the event, as the video of the microphone toss went viral, and the same mic was later auctioned for nearly \$100,000. She further criticised the event organisers, Drai’s Management Group, for what she described as a failure to provide adequate security and control the situation.
As part of her case, Jane Doe pointed to another reported incident the night before, in which Cardi B allegedly threw a microphone at a DJ, suggesting that security should have been on high alert.
Although Las Vegas law enforcement closed the initial investigation last year due to a lack of evidence and chose not to file criminal charges, the woman has now reopened the matter as a civil lawsuit, seeking financial compensation for damages.
Cardi B’s legal team has since responded, calling the claims baseless and expressing full confidence in the rapper’s conduct during the incident.
