May Edochie, the estranged wife of Nollywood actor Yul Edochie, has spoken candidly about the personal and financial challenges she faced following the collapse of her marriage.
Speaking during the launch of her beauty brand in London, the mother of three and social media influencer revealed that the period after her marital crisis was one of the most difficult times of her life.
According to Naija News, May disclosed that she lost all her businesses and was left grappling with severe financial pressure, including debts owed to three different banks.
She explained that her businesses crumbled rapidly, leaving her unable to generate income while still burdened with multiple loan repayments. “It was barely a few months when all the unprecedented occurrences came my way,” she said. “I sat and watched everything go down the drain, and it came at a time I had to repay three banks.”
May noted that the banks had previously supported her ventures, but unfortunately, everything fell apart at once. “While so much was happening on social media, I was also fighting battles behind the scenes. Goods expired in my stores, I lost everything, and interests on my loans kept piling up,” she said.
Despite the overwhelming difficulties, May stressed that she refused to give up or rely on others for help. “I believe in myself and I know what I’m made of. I said to myself, ‘No, I am not going to be at the mercy of anyone.’”
