A Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the remand of two men, Saheed Jamiu (also known as Osama) and Uyime Godwin Udoekwere, over allegations that they falsely accused Omowunmi Aloba, the widow of late singer Mohbad, of being responsible for his death.
Toff Notch reports that the defendants were arraigned on Monday before Justice Ibrahim Kala on charges of conspiracy, cyberstalking, and defamation brought by the Nigeria Police.
According to the prosecution, the duo staged a protest in Ikeja, Lagos, in early July 2025, displaying a placard that labelled Wunmi as Mohbad’s killer. The same accusations were also posted across their social media accounts.
Their actions, according to the police, violate provisions of the Cybercrimes Act, 2015. Both men pleaded not guilty.
While their lawyer requested bail, assuring the court that they would not interfere with the case, the judge declined the oral application and directed that a formal request be filed. Justice Kala then ordered that the accused be held at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre until the bail hearing.
The case was adjourned to September 25, 2025, when trial proceedings are expected to begin.
Omowunmi Aloba has faced persistent accusations online since Mohbad’s sudden death in September 2023. In an October interview, she denied any involvement, stating her late husband had faced threats and emotional pressure before his passing.
