Nollywood actor Gideon Okeke has voiced his frustration over poor hygiene standards on movie sets after developing rashes linked to a costume provided during a recent shoot.
Taking to Instagram, the actor shared that he returned home with a severe skin reaction, which he believes was caused by unwashed animal skin tunics often used in epic Nollywood productions.
Okeke criticised the wardrobe department for failing to properly clean costumes before reassigning them to different actors. He also described the offensive smell from the outfit, adding that it likely contributed to the skin irritation he experienced.
“Back home with a body full of rashes!!!” he wrote. “Dear wardrobe department, do Nollywood a crying favour by washing those animal skin tunics before giving them to the next unsuspecting talent. The yeye wey dey that wardrobe dey SMELL Diaries from a Nollywood EPIC.”
He urged costume teams across the industry to prioritise cleanliness and actor safety to avoid future health risks on set.
