The Super Falcons brought Lagos to life on Wednesday as they staged a grand victory parade to celebrate their historic win at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where they clinched their tenth continental title.
Naija News reports that the jubilant motorcade rolled through major routes in Lagos, attracting massive crowds of cheering fans eager to celebrate with the champions. The players, proudly dressed in team colours, waved to supporters and shared the joy of their hard-fought victory.
The parade comes just days after President Bola Tinubu hosted the team in Abuja and honoured them with national awards for their remarkable achievement. Each player received the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), while team officials were also decorated with various national honours. In addition, the players were awarded plots of land in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and cash gifts in recognition of their dedication and success.
The celebratory event not only marked the Falcons’ dominance in African women’s football but also showcased national pride and appreciation for a team that continues to inspire generations of Nigerians.
