Reality TV star Tochi Okechukwu has criticised the Federal Government’s decision to name Fuji legend Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1, as an aviation security ambassador.
In a post on his Instagram story, Tochi questioned the logic behind appointing someone previously accused of preventing a plane from taking off to a role promoting airport security. He described the move as “a new low” in public service standards.
“From this airline situation, just imagine the number of people that have been wrongly jailed or persecuted just because social media didn’t carry their story… just imagine,” he wrote.
“An ordinary civilian prevented a whole plane from taking off and you guys made him aviation security ambassador. That’s a new low even for us.”
His remarks come after the Federal Government reduced KWAM 1’s flight ban from six months to one month. The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) also announced plans to collaborate with the musician to raise awareness about proper airport security procedures.
