Veteran Nollywood actor Segun Remi, fondly known as Chief Kanran, has passed away at the age of 72.
The news was confirmed on Friday by celebrity journalist Seun Oloketuyi, who announced the actor’s death in a post on Instagram. However, details regarding the cause of his death were not disclosed at the time of this report.
Chief Kanran was a celebrated figure in the Yoruba film industry, renowned for his distinctive style, humour, and powerful performances in countless stage plays and movies spanning several decades.
Announcing the sad news, Oloketuyi wrote:
