Onyinyechi Basil, representing Anambra State, has emerged as the new Miss Universe Nigeria 2025.
The grand finale took place on Saturday, August 30, at the Convention Centre of Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, with Anthony Abraham and Victory Wilson serving as hosts.
The competition began with 22 contestants, unveiled on August 26. After several elimination rounds, the field narrowed to the top 10, and ultimately the final five representatives from Ogun, Lagos, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, and Bayelsa.
Basil distinguished herself throughout the evening with outstanding performances in the swimwear, traditional costume, and evening gown segments, as well as during the highly anticipated question-and-answer round.
Damilola Bolarinde of Lagos finished as first runner-up, while Fortune Kurobo of Bayelsa and Irene Ikediashi of Ogun placed as second and third runners-up, respectively.
In a special category, Idah Eno of Akwa Ibom was crowned Miss Supranational Nigeria 2025.
As the newly crowned queen, Basil will represent Nigeria at the 74th Miss Universe pageant, scheduled for November 20 in Bangkok, Thailand. She will also receive a cash prize, brand endorsements, material gifts, training opportunities, and paid appearances.
