Nollywood actor Saidi Balogun has attributed the persistent flooding in Lagos to the careless disposal of refuse by residents.
In a video shared on Instagram, the actor lamented that many people worsen the situation by dumping waste into gutters and blocking drainage systems.
He recalled witnessing similar acts in Maryland, where residents were seen throwing trash into gutters.
Balogun stressed that while many blame the government, citizens themselves contribute to the problem.
“We are the government, and we are the ones doing this to ourselves,” he said. “Because they dumped refuse into the gutter, look at Ikorodu road, people have blocked the gutter. We even saw some people at Maryland but we couldn’t record it. Throwing dustbins into the gutter blocks the drainage.”
