Veteran Nollywood actor Chiwetalu Agu has dismissed circulating reports that he died following complications from diabetes and spine surgery, calling the claims false and misleading.
The rumour, which spread rapidly across social media, prompted concern among fans and colleagues before the actor addressed it directly. In a video posted to his official Instagram page on Friday, Agu reassured the public that he is very much alive and in good health, accusing attention-seeking bloggers of fabricating the story.
Describing the reports as baseless, the Enugu-born star criticized how easily such falsehoods are accepted without verification. He urged the public to ignore the false announcements and warned those spreading them: “All because of likes, views, and comments, a blogger wrongly announced my death. They posted ‘RIP’ with my pictures. Let me shock you: Chief Chiwetalu Agu Okenmirin’ezoru1 of Etiti Amokwe, Enugu State, is not going to die any time soon. Instead, I will be the one to bury my enemies. The one who digs a pit will fall inside; the one who digs a grave will fall inside. I am going to carry my grandchildren.”
Agu’s message closes the chapter on the false reports for now, but his reaction also serves as a reminder to verify viral claims before sharing them.
