Celebrity chef and Guinness World Record holder, Hilda Baci, on Friday officially began her attempt to cook the world’s largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.
Baci, who made history in 2023 with the longest cooking marathon, is hosting the “Gino Jollof Festival” in partnership with seasoning and culinary brand, Gino.
The landmark event features a custom-made pot measuring six metres wide and six metres tall, into which 250 bags of rice will be cooked.
Before she lit the burners, the lead pastor of Harvesters International Christian Centre, Bolaji Idowu, prayed for her and blessed the effort.
Top social media influencers, including Enioluwa Adeoluwa, Tomike Adeoye, Folagade Banks, and Veekee James, were present to cheer her on.
The festival has attracted massive crowds of Gen Zs, millennials, food enthusiasts, and celebrities, with organisers confirming that more than 20,000 people registered to attend the free, public event.
Baci has assured attendees that the meal will be “amazing and hygienic,” promising a record-breaking Nigerian jollof rice experience.
