Ex-Big Brother Naija housemate Phyna has opened fresh allegations against Dangote Group for neglecting the case of her late sister, Ruth Otabor.
She said this in a series of posts on her Instagram story, where she claimed the company failed to take full responsibility for hospital and burial expenses after publicly stating otherwise.
According to her, Dangote Group only paid the hospital bill at Lagoon Hospital, while every other payment was done by the family without refunds. She also said the company did not assist with the mortuary and burial costs as they promised.
On the day of the burial, September 13, Phyna alleged that the company ignored her family’s calls, forcing them to cover all outstanding expenses. This contradicts the company’s public statements claiming to have settled the hospital and burial bills. Phyna further claimed that the company sent a letter to her father, requesting he sign an acknowledgment for funds they said were provided for the burial.
She charged the company for impersonating her father and drafting the letter instead of doing the right thing by requesting the family to prepare one. She describes the act as disrespectful and deeply hurtful.
Phyna also expressed concern about Ruth’s children, stating that no support has been extended to them since their mother’s death. She said that Ruth’s first child will turn six on October 2.
She asserted that the company’s approach seems calculated and planned to silence her family after the burial. She insisted that justice must be pursued for her late sister, stressing that her voice would not be silenced until her family receives the accountability they deserve.
She wrote: “So far, Dangote Group has not done anything at all. You crushed her; it’s your responsibility to treat her. She dies; it’s your responsibility to bury her. And after that, you all are acting mute and dumb; nobody is talking about her kids. You are telling me to send bills for the hospital make una refund me. Omo Nigeria is about to happen to my sisters kids oooh.”
