Comedian and actor Ayo Makun cautions fans against the pressure that comes with social media comparison.
In a video shared on his Instagram page, he discussed how social media platforms like Instagram showcase polished versions of life where luxury trips, designer clothes, and expensive cars make success look effortless.
AY pointed out that much of what people admire online is not real.
He further went on to explain that some individuals borrow outfits, props and locations to create the image of wealth and success, while others take photos in places like hotel lobbies and present them as their homes or pose with cars that are not theirs.
According to him,“Many of these people you envy are living on borrowed wigs, borrowed outfits, and borrowed lifestyles. Some take pictures in hotel lobbies and call them their new homes, while others pose with cars that don’t belong to them.
“Social media is like a movie set; not everything you see online is real. It’s better to live real and simple than to live a life full of fake and boring. Grow at your own pace, stay authentic, and resist the urge to compete with illusions. Choose self-contentment over comparison. If you agree with this message, comment ‘real.’”
He encouraged people to focus on their own growth, remain authentic, and avoid comparing themselves to these illusions.
AY advised that living a simple and genuine life is more fulfilling than chasing a fake image of success.
