Zainab Balogun Laments Paying N10,000 for a Cup of Tea in Lagos Restaurant

Nollywood actress and TV host Zainab Balogun has expressed her shock after being charged N10,000 for a single cup of tea at a restaurant in Lagos.

In a video shared on her Instagram page, the actress recounted how she went out for lunch with a friend but decided to order only green tea since she wasn’t hungry. The tea, served in a pot with a large cup, seemed ordinary until she received the bill.

“My mouth dropped so much I was hoping the people sitting next to me didn’t see that flies were catching my mouth,” she said, reacting to the discovery that the simple drink cost N10,000.

Zainab noted that the tea was nothing more than “boiled water with two tea bags,” but since she had already consumed it, she had no choice but to pay.

Joking about the experience, the actress said she regretted not taking pictures at the restaurant to make the pricey outing feel worthwhile. “I should have joined another lady doing a photo shoot. You must use your money and the space well,” she quipped.

Reflecting on the incident, Zainab said the experience has taught her to be more cautious about dining out. “There’s tea at home. This will not happen again,” she added.
