The President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Rollas, has publicly criticised his colleagues for maintaining silence amid the ongoing marital crisis between Nollywood actress Regina Daniels and her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko.

In a detailed statement shared on Instagram on Thursday, Rollas accused several senior figures in the movie industry of keeping quiet despite being aware of Regina’s health challenges and the circumstances surrounding her troubled marriage.

According to him, many actors  including Okey Bakassi, Chinyere Wilfred, Jide Kosoko, Charles Inojie, and Sanni Danji — witnessed disturbing signs during a recent movie production that indicated Regina “needs help,” yet chose not to speak up. He said their silence has left him unfairly exposed to public attacks.

Rollas recounted an incident at Regina’s son’s birthday party, where Nwoko openly expressed concern about his wife’s alleged smoking habit, claiming he had previously involved her family. Rollas said the comment was made publicly in the presence of AGN members and friends of the couple, insisting the matter is not hearsay.

He also revealed that while planning an AGN roundtable meeting in South Africa, Senator Nwoko insisted Regina would only travel if Rollas guaranteed she wouldn’t pass through Lagos — a condition he said has been “twisted” against him.

Addressing Regina’s mother, Rita Daniels, Rollas questioned her decision to pursue the AGN presidency despite her daughter’s ongoing marital and health concerns. He insisted that leadership should prioritise the wellbeing of members, not glamorise harmful habits under the guise of “celebrity lifestyle.”

Rollas further dismissed claims that Senator Nwoko had funded the AGN or donated ₦200 million to the Guild. According to him, the funds were given to Regina personally for her film project, not to the Guild , a misconception he said has caused him unnecessary backlash.

He also criticised Nwoko for publicly calling out Regina on social media, saying the matter could have been resolved privately.

Concluding his statement, Rollas said he chose to speak out because his name has been repeatedly dragged into the controversy, while other industry stakeholders remain silent to protect their reputations or preserve personal benefits.

“This is my truth,” he wrote. “I owe myself that dignity.”

The ongoing marital dispute between Regina Daniels and Senator Nwoko continues to generate widespread attention, with the latest revelations sparking intense debate within the entertainment industry and beyond.
