Davido Condemns Rising Insecurity After Kebbi Schoolgirls’ Abduction, Kwara Church Killing

Afrobeats superstar Davido, whose name is David Adeleke, has expressed deep concern over the escalating insecurity in Nigeria following fresh incidents of abductions and killings in Kebbi and Kwara states.

The singer’s reaction comes in the wake of the abduction of 25 schoolgirls from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State, and the killing of three worshippers during an attack on a Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) parish in Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State. Several others, including the church’s pastor, were kidnapped.

The Kebbi incident occurred when armed men invaded the school late Monday night, abducting the students and killing the Vice Principal. Less than 24 hours later, gunmen launched another assault, this time on a church in Kwara, opening fire on worshippers during an evening service.

In a statement shared on 𝕏 on Wednesday evening, Davido described the attacks as “heartbreaking and unacceptable,” adding that no family should have to endure such loss and trauma.

“These acts of violence must never become our norm,” he wrote, calling the incidents frightening signs of the country’s deteriorating security situation. The award-winning musician urged Nigerians not to normalise the growing trend of violent crimes.

Davido extended his sympathy to the families of the abducted schoolgirls and those affected by the Kwara church tragedy, praying for comfort and healing.

He called for renewed attention to the safety of children across the country, stressing that every Nigerian child deserves a future built on hope, safety, and opportunity.

“As Nigerians, we must stand together in unity and continue working towards a country where every child can grow up in safety and hope,” he said.

The singer also appealed to members of the public to provide security agencies with credible information that could help rescue the abducted girls, noting that “everything must be done to bring the girls home safely.”

Davido ended his statement with prayers for national peace and a firm condemnation of those sponsoring or enabling violence.

“May God comfort the grieving families in Kwara, bring peace to our nation, and put every sponsor of violence and disorder to shame,” he added.
