A troll on X tells comedian AY, whose full name is Ayo Makun, to take caution after accusing him of allowing nepotism to get the best of him in 2008/2009.
This all started as a result of a post the Nollywood actor posted on his X account, telling his followers to be careful of friends who only show up when there is bad news to spread.
According to the filmmaker, not everyone smiling around you wishes you well. In his words, “Beware of anyone who calls you a friend yet rushes to jump on any negative news about you just to trend and gain monetisation. Not everyone around you wishes you well. May God protect us from friends who are truly enemies in disguise. Their karma is never far.”
However, an 𝕏 user responded to the post, claiming AY once ignored him years ago in Surulere.
According to him, they met around 2008 or 2009. AY gave him a card, and when he called, it was a PA who kept answering.
He accused AY of “nepotism” and added, “If Alibaba treat you as you treat others, you for no dey where you dey today. Beware of yourself.”
Ay dismissed the accusations, saying he never had a Personal assistant in 2008 because he was still building his career.
He also added that people familiar with comedy in Nigeria would know his relationship with Alibaba has never been an issue.
