Nigeria’s popular disc jockey, DJ Neptune, whose full name is Imohiosen Patrick, thinks that African creatives need to own their own streaming platforms.
He said this during an interview on Rubbing Minds on Sunday, stating that if creatives understand the power they have, they can do so much.“We, as African creatives, need to start thinking towards the direction of owning our own streaming platforms because we have the numbers.”
According to him, he is made for life, and all he needs to sustain his career is four to five per cent of the African population constantly streaming my music, coming to my shows.
He also advised Africans to see collaboration as the new gold as it is effective and makes conversation interesting. “But you need to understand that collaboration right now is the new gold. When we go into the room as one voice, it makes the conversation more interesting and more beneficial to the creatives.”
